Bio4UP is a Horizon Europe MSCA Staff Exchanges project developing biochar-enhanced upcycling solutions for the zero-waste valorization of organic waste. The project integrates biochar engineering, anaerobic digestion, biogas purification, catalytic CO2 conversion, solid-state fermentation, sustainability assessment, and decision-support tools to transform organic residues into renewable energy, circular economy products, and sustainable agricultural inputs.
Through an interdisciplinary, intersectoral, and international consortium, Bio4UP brings together universities, research centres, SMEs, and associated partners from Europe and Latin America. The project will mobilize 302 person-months of staff exchanges to strengthen knowledge transfer, research capacity, and innovation in sustainable waste valorization.
